Brilliant racing on Saturday at Rosehill and Caulfield with Rick Hore-Lacy stealing the show by training the quinella of the $350,000 group one Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) with Toorak Toff getting the job done over stable stalwart Pinnacles.

In Sydney, Manawanui won the easiest $150,000 you will see on a racetrack with an effortless win in the $250,000 group two Stan Fox Stakes (1500m). Here are the blackbookers.

Rosehill:

Old Bill – Ran in the opening race. Did a power of work early before Cassidy elected to stride forward to lead. Looked to be cruising at the 300m but just the early effort told on him late. He was only third up so expect improvement. A horse to follow in this sort of grade.

Roma Giaconda – Gee didn’t she run a cracking race at just her third start? Settled last, was never going to beat Manawanui, but she hit the line nicely for second. Possibly a start next Saturday in the Flight Stakes?

Caulfield:

Atlantic Jewel – Whatever price you can get for the Thousand Guineas, put the money on her now. To say her win was arrogant is being mean to her. She was just awesome and the best part was that she had no idea what she was doing. Kav has a beauty here.

Mighty High – Hong Kong galloper who is right on track for the Caufield Cup after a strong first up run behind Extra Zero. Carried 61.5kg and was held up on the turn. Nice type who will get better over further.

There were a number of blackbookers from the Sir Rupert Clarke. Majestic Music was most unlucky, as was Smart Missile. Luen Yat Forever has come back in great style and looks to have a strong case for the Toorak. Dao Dao warmed up late and will be better for the run and although Woorim finished well back. He ran the second quickest final 200m. Don’t sack the Queenslander.

And from Canterbury on Friday night, Lightinthenite is a potential group one horse after his stunning return on Friday night. John O’ Shea did tell Justhorseracing about six weeks ago this horse was the one to watch from his stable, and boy he is right.
